PW Dept

PW Dept No1 – Wickhams Trolley – named Bumble

Named after a departed family pet rabbit, this much hacked card creation from Rail Road (www.rail-roadmodels.co.uk) trundles along the line, usually the first trip of the day to check for clearances/obstructions etc.

PW1 sits rusting simmering in the sun

Driven by Philpot who loves his early morning trips along the line with fellow PW gang members, Pete Pick and Stan Shovel.

The boys deal with more leaf fall

The much weathered body was brought together with the original chassis from No.1 Wee Yin  - a classic bodge that is resulted in the stunt loco in our collection – manually driven, she's pointed in the right direction, the power switched on and off she runs.

On some runs she is hooked up to a small wagon (Heritage Tin Plate  Hornby wagon I acquired for 99p of T’ebay – apologies to any O gaugers who are horrified with my weathering and the coupling manipulation but better it rattle along in the fresh air that live unloved in the bottom of a drawer!). The PW boys pile in with their tools and off they go. You can see on the news pages where their efforts have got the line reopened after various vegetation challenges!

Recently fitted with lights, Bumble is a favourite with visitors, basically due to its relatively high, non scale speeds!

Philpot always likes a natter - and a brew!

And now with direction lights glowing!
